I’m Skeptical. Are You Skeptical?

April 30, 2019

The need to repair and/or replace our crumbling infrastructure is the one big issue that both Congressional Republicans and Democrats can agree on. Very recently, the President of the United States met with Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Minority Senate Leader Chuck Schumer to discuss my favorite political topic which happens to be infrastructure. Pelosi and Schumer emerged from the meeting and held a brief press conference which you can watch below.

The two Democratic leaders characterized the meeting as being “very productive” and said that there were going to be more meetings to get the job done. These would include talking about how to pay for a massive infrastructure program. And that’s where I start to lose hope. Both sides agree that we need overhauled roads, bridges, etc. Apparently, Trump, Pelosi, and Schumer agreed on the need, that a plan needed to be “big and bold,” and they even agreed on a $2 trillion price tag.

The problem now is the same snag we historically run into, neither side of the aisle can agree on how to pay for it.

That’s why I’m skeptical.

Please watch the video and tell me if I should be more hopeful.
