Los Angeles, CA (June 3, 2016) – Nicholson Construction Company will be making seismic improvements at Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in the Long Beach Unified School System using chemical grouting. The school first opened in 1926, and has been recognized as one of the top three school districts in the country. The over $2 million project is part of a $21.1 million investment to upgrade the infrastructure in the auditorium and adjacent areas.
Nicholson will work with general contractor 2H Constructors to improve potentially liquefiable zones at the school by drilling vertical, horizontal and inclined holes at depths of 14 to 24 feet. Tube-a-Manchette (PVC) piping will be installed into the holes, and uniformly spaced ports in the piping will allow chemical grout to be injected into the four treatment areas.
