APWA Appoints Kansas City Division Manager Patricia Hilderbrand to ISI Board of Directors
KANSAS CITY, MO. — The American Public Works Association (APWA) announced today that Patricia (Patty) A. Hilderbrand, MPA, PE, Division Manager of Coordination Services for the Kansas City Public Works Department, has been appointed to the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Board of Directors. Hilderbrand was appointed to the 11-member ISI Board by APWA President Brian Usher, PWLF.
“APWA is pleased to appoint Patty Hilderbrand to serve a three-year term on the ISI Board,” said Usher. “Her extensive public sector experience will bring broad perspective, and will provide a wealth of experience working with public and private owners, designers, contractors and materials/equipment manufacturers and suppliers to help the ISI Board forge a new vision for sustainable infrastructure through the use of ISI’s Envision® rating system.”
Within Hilderbrand’s career in the Kansas City Public Works Department, her responsibilities have included project management of major flood mitigation projects with the U.S. Corps of Engineers; direction of the department’s five-year Capital Improvements Program; direction and implementation of a city-wide, comprehensive Internet program and project management system; management of the city’s transit contracts; and service as liaison to the city’s primary Metropolitan Planning Organization, MoDOT, Railroads, Transit authority, counties and franchises. She also oversees a staff of 16 employees including the Public Information Officer, the Customer Service
Group, the Asset Management Team and Project Controls Manager, as well as the City Bicycle and Pedestrian Coordinator, Right-of-Way Management Team and Utility Coordinator.
Hilderbrand holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Kansas. She has served in many leadership roles at the APWA chapter and national levels, including serving as the Director-at Large for Engineering & Technology on the National Board of Directors. In 2003, she received APWA’s Young Leader of the Year Award.
APWA is one the three national organizations that co-founded ISI and is dedicated to working with other ISI partners on a new vision for sustainable infrastructure through the use of the new ISI Envision rating system and other initiatives.
Envision is the product of a joint collaboration between ISI, which was co-founded by APWA, ASCE, and ACEC, and the Zofnass Program for Sustainable Infrastructure at Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. In 2012, ISI Envision was launched as a new comprehensive sustainable infrastructure system to assist planners, designers, owners and builders to plan, construct, operate and rate infrastructure to increasing levels of sustainability and resource efficiency.
