Pat Monroe, a member of AEM’s public relations department for more than four decades, will retire from the association at the end of 2019.
Monroe’s impending retirement was announced in an email to staff earlier this year, and her last day with AEM will be Dec. 31.
“I’ve had the privilege of working with Pat for only four short years, but in that time I have been consistently impressed with her dedication and flawless work,” said AEM Director of Public Relations Sandra Mason. “Pat never seeks credit or looks for praise. Her top priorities have always been to advance the industry and shed light on the notable efforts and accomplishments of others.”
Monroe worked for the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association (CIMA) for several years prior to 2002, when it and the Equipment Manufacturers Institute (EMI) merged to become the Association of Equipment Manufacturers. Since then, she has been employed in a number of roles in AEM's public relations department, while also serving as the association's unofficial historian.
“For some 40 years, Pat has dedicated her career as a PR leader and writer for AEM, telling our story to the membership, the industries we serve, government officials and the public,” said AEM President Dennis Slater. “With her eye on the present and her deep knowledge of our history, Pat has quietly but effectively communicated the good work of our members and the association. And on a personal note, I will always be indebted to Pat for hiring me over 30 years ago as a Publications Editor and giving me the opportunity to be part of the AEM story.”
