Stormwater Performance Assessment: Inspection, Testing, and Monitoring

Feb. 26, 2016

Even the best designed stormwater treatment practices decline in performance over time. Regular assessment of the treatment’s performance (in relation to its goal) is critical for quantifying and qualifying its current performance, necessary maintenance, and future expectations. But…what is the best assessment method for your treatment? And, how can you integrate this into your stormwater program?

Join returning speaker Andrew Erickson to explore field-tested stormwater assessment methods – visual inspection, testing, and monitoring – and how you can select and apply these to effectively measure and assess the performance of your stormwater project.

This webinar is scheduled live on Thursday, March 3 @ 11 a.m. PST / 2 p.m. EST @ 11:00 a.m. PST / 2:00 p.m. EST, 1-1.5hr.* Register for the event by clicking the button below.

In this webinar, we’ll start by exploring the three levels of assessment for measuring performance (visual inspection, testing, and monitoring), and discuss how to determine which assessment techniques are best suited for your stormwater treatment. Within this discussion, we’ll take a look at standardized visual inspection methods enabling quick assessment of your stormwater treatment practice’s function. Erickson will outline several testing methods (e.g., capacity, synthetic runoff, etc.) allowing you to quantify your primary treatment processes and performance. We’ll explore the field-tested tips, tricks, and best practices for a successful (and sustainable) monitoring program. And throughout, we’ll tour several examples of real-world stormwater treatment practices demonstrating how to identify and assess the causes of failure. Most importantly, attendees will how to quickly determine which of these assessment techniques you should use for your stormwater treatment projects (e.g., stormwater ponds, bioretention facilities, infiltration basins, swales, filter strips, and many others).

Learning Objectives
Attendees can expect the discussion and education of the following learning objectives.

        • Learn standardized visual inspection methods to assess  function of a stormwater treatment practice.
        • Learn testing methods (capacity, synthetic runoff, etc.) to quantify primary treatment processes and performance.
        • Understand monitoring methods and gain best practices for making it successful.
        • Learn how to determine which assessment techniques to use for your projects.
