When technician injuries at Schneider National were spiking, the carrier looked for solutions that would support its core value of safety. One step it took was to purchase Rotary Lift Mach Series mobile column lifts for some of its locations. Like many truck fleets, Schneider, the seventh largest for-hire freight carrier in the U.S., had never used vehicle lifts in its maintenance bays. After conducting time and motion studies on its first set of Rotary Lift Mach Series lifts, Schneider ordered several more for many of its locations around the U.S.

Schneider found that using the Rotary Lift mobile column lifts reduced knee, back and hand injuries while also providing a 10 to 15 percent improvement in cycle times, meaning technicians could safely finishmore jobs in a day.

“We haven’t had an injury at our location since the lifts were put in,” says David McChesney, shop manager for the Gary, Indiana, Schneider location. “I wish we would have had them back when I was a mechanic!”
